FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We don’t allow any outside food or drinks at the cinema. We rely on food & drink purchases to keep the projectors running. We have a water station located at the base of the stairs.

We are planning on creating a QR code system so you can order directly from your private cinema soon. For the time being, order at the bar and we will deliver food and drinks to your private cinema.

Cinema 1 can seat up to 22 guests & Cinema 2 can seat up to 12 guests + 6 ground seats (18 total). The private cinema hire fee is a flat fee. You can bring as little or as many guests as you like with no change in the price.

Yes, you can host a birthday party at Henkel Street. If you are over 15, you can go ahead and book any cinema at any time. We also have 2 dedicated screening times for kid’s parties each week on Tuesdays/ Wednesdays at 5pm-7.30pm (Ages 9-15 only). We will also have 1pm-1.30pm Monday-Thursday sessions available for school holidays. Please follow this link to find out more.

Henkel Street Cinema is a public premises. Under most streaming services user agreements, you are not permitted to screen content in a public premises. As of February 2024 all bookings include film licensing – you can screen anything from the Roadshow film catalogue https://ppl.roadshow.com.au/film. If you would like to screen your own content or already have a film license for a certain film, please email hello@henkelstreetcinema.com.au to see whether you’ll be able to screen your content. The same booking fee will apply to screen your own content.

If you are planning on screening your own content that you have a film license for or that you have produced yourself (eg. a short film that you created), you will need to send this file to hello@henkelstreetcinema.com.au via dropbox or google drive 48 hours before your screening so that we can load it onto our system.

We don’t have access to any new release cinema content. Lots of great films don’t get a chance to shine on those screens, so this is a great opportunity to see them on a big screen where they belong alongside a group of your favourite people!

All our private cinema sessions are 135 minutes in length. If you’d like to play a film that is longer than 135 minutes, you will need to ‘add an extra hour’.

There are only certain sessions that you can add an extra hour to (Cinema 1: Saturdays 7pm, Sundays 6pm. Cinema 2: Thursdays 6.30pm, Fridays 7.30pm, Saturdays 7pm, Sundays 6pm)

The other option is to book 2 (or 3?) sessions in a row in either cinema if you’re keen on a double-header!

Yes, please send us an email & we’ll see what we can do to help – hello@henkelstreetcinema.com.au

You have the option to include an intermission in your screening when making a booking. Intermissions last 7 minutes.

Our cinema isn’t a huge space, however we have designed it so those using wheelchairs can access all parts of the cinema, except for cinema 2 which is only accessible via a flight of stairs unfortunately. If one of your guests, or yourself uses a wheelchair please book cinema 1. For more information please get in contact with us hello@henkelstreetcinema.com.au & we are very happy to help accomodate any requirements you have.

At this stage, we’d like to keep things simple & screen based, so we’ll only be accepting bookings for private screenings of films

We plan on making gamers welcome in the very near future – we are just working on getting the right systems in place to do so.

We can’t do much to help if your guests are running late unfortunately. If there is no session after yours, there is a chance you’ll be able to add an extra hour and delay the start of your screening.

We have a no cancellation policy 5 days before your booking. We will not be able to refund you if you cancel a booking. However, you are able to reschedule your booking before the 5 day cut-off time and choose a new date for your screening.

Sorry, unfortunately we don’t allow your dogs, cats or parakeets onto the premises. Maybe one day we’ll build a dedicated pet friendly private cinema!

If we haven’t covered your question, please send us an email hello@henkelstreetcinema.com.au
